We don't do commercial tenant improvements, low-voltage security, or appliance repair. We do residential power — service to device — inside Spokane city limits and out through the county.

01 — Service & Load Centers

Panel & Service Upgrades

A 1958 South Hill house on a 100A service with a Zinsco load center is the single most common call we get. We replace the panel, the meter base, the mast and weatherhead, and the grounding electrode system as one job — because Avista won't re-energize a half-measure.

EV Charger Installation

The question is never "can you hang the charger." It's "will my 100A panel carry it." We run a load calculation to NEC 220 before we quote, so nobody finds out the answer at 11 p.m. in January with the heat pump running.

Wiring & Rewiring

Spokane's median house was built in 1961 and about a quarter of the city's stock predates 1940. Browne's Addition, Peaceful Valley, West Central, Emerson/Garfield — knob-and-tube in the joist bays and two-prong receptacles all the way down. Insurance carriers stopped tolerating it.

Lighting Installation

The small job that gets done badly most often. A can-light retrofit in a plaster ceiling is not a Saturday project — old boxes are frequently unrated, unsupported, and fed by ungrounded cloth conductors that fail the moment they're moved.

Troubleshooting & Repair

"Half the house is dark but no breaker tripped" is an open neutral, and it will cook electronics on the lightly loaded leg while you're deciding what to do. This is the work that takes an actual meter, a thermal camera, and someone who's found it before.

Generator Hookups

Wet snow on Ponderosa limbs takes lines down every winter, and the calls come in a wave. We install the electrical half — transfer switch, inlet, feeder, bonding — and coordinate the gas side with your plumber or Avista.

Portable setupExterior power inlet box, 30A or 50A, feeding a 6–12 circuit manual transfer switch beside the panel. You pick which circuits stay alive: furnace, well pump, fridge, one lighting circuit.
Standby setupPad prep, 100A or 200A automatic transfer switch, service-entrance-rated where required, neutral-switching handled correctly so the grounding scheme stays legal.
What we will not doSuicide cords, backfed breakers, or any interlock kit that isn't listed for your panel. It backfeeds the line and it kills Avista crews.

No hourly meter running while we think. You see the number on a tablet, you sign or you don't, and the permit fee is already inside it. Here's what each column means before you agree to anything.

What's behind the price

The credentials, in plain numbers

Washington doesn't hand out the word "electrician." A 01 General journey-level card takes 8,000 documented hours, at least 4,000 of them commercial or industrial. A 02 Residential Specialty takes 4,000. We carry both on staff and the card comes out of the wallet before the tarp goes down.

Will a 100A panel handle an EV charger?

Sometimes. We run an NEC 220 load calculation on your actual appliances. If it's tight, a load-management device on a 40A circuit costs about $400 and saves you a $2,800 service upgrade.

Who pulls the permit — you or me?

We do, always, on our license. City of Spokane addresses go through the city; unincorporated county goes through L&I at 509-324-2640. We meet the inspector; you don't take the day off.

How long will my power be off for a panel swap?

About four hours in the middle of a 6–8 hour day, once Avista pulls the meter. We schedule the pull for 8 a.m. so you're back on before dinner. In deep-freeze weeks we bring space heaters.

My insurer says knob-and-tube or no renewal. What do they need?

A scope letter naming what was removed, what circuits were replaced, the permit number, and the final inspection date. We write it and email it the day the inspector signs.

Both. Avista owns the drop to the weatherhead — call 800-227-9187. You own the mast, weatherhead, meter base and everything past it. We rebuild that side and coordinate the reconnect.

Split responsibility

Can you just add a breaker instead of replacing the panel?

If it's a listed panel with a spare space and the bus is clean, yes — that's $185–$420. If it's a Stab-Lok or Zinsco, no. We won't add load to a bus that's known to fail closed.
